Privacy policy

Chess Checkmate (chesscheckmate.com) is run by Fire Empire LLC, Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Last updated October 19, 2026.

This page explains what information Chess Checkmate handles when you visit, and the choices you have. We do not sell or rent personal information.

What we collect

• No account, no tracking analytics. You do not need an account, and the site does not run Google Analytics or tracking pixels. Advertising is covered below.
• Your games and settings stay in your browser. Games, puzzle progress, puzzle rating and settings are saved only in your browser's local storage. They never reach our servers, and clearing your browser data deletes them.
• Play a friend. Live games with a friend connect the two browsers directly (peer to peer, using PeerJS). A connection broker briefly sees the technical connection details needed to link the browsers; we do not record your moves.
• Messages. If you email us, we keep your email address and message so we can reply.
• Server logs. Our host, Vercel, keeps short-lived technical logs such as IP address and browser type to keep the site secure and working.

Advertising and cookies (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through a Google-certified consent message before personalised ads are shown.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy or sign up, the seller may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are marked on the page where they appear, and they never change what we write or recommend. Affiliate partners (for example Chess.com) can see that a visit came from us and may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.

Embedded videos

If a page embeds a YouTube video, YouTube may set cookies when you play it, under Google's privacy policy.

Children

Chess Checkmate is a general-audience site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and nothing on the site asks for it.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where the law allows; we answer within 30 days.
